This essay should not be just a biographical account of the photographer’s life, but an exploration about his/her work. You must include at least 3 works by the artist and critique them. Points you could make about the photos are how the photographer has used:
Choice of subject matter Lighting Value Cropping Texture Lines Depth of Space Focus
to make an interesting and/or aesthetically pleasing photograph. You must have representations of the photographs in the paper. You must also have a paragraph about how this photographer’s work reflects the times he or she lives in. For example, Dorothea Lange lived during the Depression Era and most of her work concerns the hardships of the “Oakies”. Her compositions and lighting invoke the despair and poverty of her subjects.
This essay should be approximately 2 double-spaced typed pages, not including the pictures of the photographer’s work.
