Instructions: 1. Choose two objects to morph into one another. The two objects do not have to relate, but should be a similar overall shape. If you don't have both objects, one can be a picture from the Internet. 2. Make thumbnail sketches of each step of the metamorphosis. Transition must be at least 4 steps, but can be more if you would like. 3. Decide on the number of drawings and loosely divide the page to fit all of the steps. Paper can be held horizontally or vertically, whichever fits your metamorphosis the best. 4. Draw the first object, either from life or a photo reference. Drawing should be at the top (vertically) or left (horizontally) of the paper. This initial drawing can be a sketch for the basic shape, it does not have to be too detailed or shaded. 5. Tape the drawing paper to a lightbox, window or clear storm door. 6. Place A DIFFERENT PAPER on top of original drawing and redraw it, altering it slightly so looks more like the object you are transitioning it to. Refer to your thumbnail sketches about how much you are changing it. 7. Untape original drawing from the window. 8. Tape the second altered drawing to window. 9. Tape original drawing on top of second altered drawing, positioning it so that you will be able trace the altered drawing in the second step of the metamorphosis. 10. Repeat steps 6-9 for the remaining drawings, until you have completed the 4+ steps of your metamorphosis. 11. Add shading, contrast and/or color to the drawings.
