Final Animation Short Feature (30 seconds - 720 frames or more)
You will create an animated feature for the final project. This animation should be a culmination of all the principles and Flash techniques you have learned during this course. Squash and stretch, secondary action, anticipation, staging, timing, arcs, slow in and out, exaggeration, appeal and of course SOLID DRAWING should all be included in the final story. The theme, plot, characters and “style” are up to you, you are the supreme creator of your universe – good luck and HAVE FUN!
Requirements:
Cohesive storyline that has a beginning, middle, and end.
At least 2 characters
Characters must speak to each other for 5 - 6 seconds
Backgrounds rendered in a style that compliments the story line and characters
At least 3 different camera angles/view changes (zoom, pan)
Procedure:
Thumbnail Sketches - Create some rough thumbnail sketches in sketchbook
Story Board - Create a storyboard (using 6 frame template) for your animation. You may use more sheets if your animation is longer. Write a brief explanation of the action for each drawing.
Model Sheets - Create 3 Model sheets for EACH character:
Character Rotation
Head Sheet
Character Model Sheet
Sound/Voice - Record dialogue and sounds (each character should have a “different” voice). Convert into .mp3 or .wav file with Zamzar.
Animation Style - Decide on the “look” of your animation (realistic, soft & dreamy, graphic (hard edge), cartoony, etc.)
Backgrounds - Decide on how to render the background(s). They can be created on Flash, in Photoshop or Illustrator, or hand drawn/painted and scanned into Flash.
Animation Approach - Animation can be done pose to pose (drawing in keyframes from storyboard, then filling in with “in-betweens”)) or straight ahead (frame by frame)
You will be graded on successful completion of: 1. Storyboard 2. Model Sheets (3) 3. Animation Short Feature (see Rubric)
